In this article we explore issues some Windows machine users may face when trying to connect to the OSX Server. In order to rectify the problem, please follow the below steps:
1. Click Start button. Under Search program and files, please enter secpol.msc and select the program that appears or hit Enter.

2. The Local Security Policy window opens.

3. Navigate to Local Policies > Security Options and find the entry labelled Network Security: Lan Manager Authentication Level. Double Click on the entry.

4. Select "Send LM & NTLM - Use NTLMv2 Session if Negotiated". Click Apply then Click OK.

5. Under the Local Security Policy window, find the entry "Network Security: Minimum Session Security for NTLM SSP Based (Including Secure RPC) Clients. Double click on the entry.

6. Uncheck Require 128 bit encryption. (No Minimum). Click Apply then click OK.

For Yosemite Servers
For some Yosemite servers, you may need to check the registry.
7. Click Start button. Under Search Programs and Files type regedit and hit Enter.

8. You are presented with the Registry Editor. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>System>CurrentControlSet>Control>Lsa and double click on LmCompatibilityLevel

9. Change the value from 3 to 1. Click OK.

10. Reconnect to OSX Server.
Update:
Windows 10 Users may need to type in the domain manually to connect to the server. For example, if user joe.bloggs wants to connect to server Mymacserver, please enter username Mymacserver/joe.bloggs
